FIRST ARTICLE OF THE YEAR - GOAL SETTING!

Now as we all know or rather should I say as most people do, we tend to have new year resolutions or ‘goals’ that we speak of, register in our minds, write down and hope to achieve all for the intended year (2014 in this case). Now while this might sound good to the ears or seem easy, we must all admit it is not necessarily an easy feat. A few of us are able to achieve and tick off all the listed goals by the end of the year, some of us are able to achieve some but not all and then most of us find out that by the end of the month of January we have already started derailing or shifting away from our stated goals.

Yeah we could quickly get back on our feet sometime in the year but truth  be told once we have missed our way early on, it is usually difficult for some of us to get back on track when we have relaxed. Meanwhile to cut the Long story short, this is the beginning of the year and if we want to see a difference in this one compared to the last we need to have and write down those goals and be passionate enough to work on them.
Goal Setting is the Master skill of Success and;
  • This begins with a paper, pen and yourself
  • Writing down your goals most times would change your life

In setting the goals we need to be clear or clarify our ideas. Questions we could ask ourselves before setting a goal or goals are;
  • What do I intend to do or achieve?
  • How will I go about doing it and what are my current assumptions?
  • What is my aim in life? Work? Family?...?
  • What are my real or important goals and how would they affect my personal life?

When written, goals can be prioritized. For example;
  • An ‘A’ goal should be the goal or something very important that if achieved would make you extremely happy.
  • A ‘B’ goal would be one that you would like to achieve but not quite as important as the ‘A’ goal.
  • A ‘C’ goal would be that goal that would just be nice to have or achieve but not as important as the ‘A or B’ goal.

Five Techniques that we could apply to help accelerate the speed required to achieve our goals are such as:
  1. Always try and Visualize the goals as Reality
  2. Positively Affirm yourself or state the goal as accomplished
  3. Take responsibility for any results – good or bad
  4. Step out in FAITH (you just gotta believe in yourself people and pray with faith if religious)
  5. Try your best to do something or take a step daily.

I would end with this; one of the imperfect ways to instil confidence and esteem in people is to give them goals to achieve. In order to achieve the goals or something you have never achieved before, you must become someone that you have never been before. Knowledge is Power but Practical Knowledge is True Power.
So let us all get down to writing our goal or goals, be passionate about it, work and have FAITH in achieving them
