No Negativity








What is Negativity? - it could be said to be the expressing, the consisting of negation or denial or rather the Lacking of positive or constructive features,

Lets face it, in life nobody is fully immune from the feelings and issues of negativity. No matter how optimistic or confident we think and feel about ourselves, we are bound to one way or another feel or have some negative feelings such as anger, depression and hate once in a while but learning to overcome these negative feelings quickly is what would help us go through the challenges of life. Some people are good at knowing how to contain negative feelings and seeing the positive in life compared to others who tend to let negativity overshadow them and they end up being consumed by anger and wondering why life is so unfair to them. 

For those who have a hard time overcoming negativity and believing the worst in themselves and situations, here are a few steps below to help you in the right direction of positivity;


Use Positive Words - Words are very powerful, most people might not realise it but they are. There is a popular bible verse that goes “out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh’. This implies that most of what we say with our mouth is a reflection of whats in our heart and thereby what we may feel about ourselves or others. If negative words are a constant for you, just maybe it is a reflection that you think negatively about yourself and life and your attitude needs to change. So lets try creating a list of negative words that we use often and replace them with positive ones. Also whenever we seem to be having a negative thought lets try to replace it with a positive in order to change our mood no matter how difficult it may seem.

Alter your thoughts - people can not take away from you and influence the way you think about yourself and respond to others. Try and choose a positive attitude in any given circumstance. It is not easy to find happiness in ourselves but it is impossible to find it elsewhere and expect others to make us happy because if we are not truly happy within ourselves, no matter what we do and the material possessions we acquire we still may not be happy. Life is to be lived and be happy, so realise that a negative attitude wont give you a positive life, as negativity limits our behaviour, potentials and opportunities so think positively!

Think outside the box - People who are negative naturally sometimes tend to avoid trying new ideas and experiences. If you regularly complain of having one problem or the other, lets be positive and see these problems as challenges to become better or possibilities that we could make something good out of. Try and take that risk, it may turn out to be the wrong decision or a negative situation as you thought but it may also turn out to be a positive experience and the best thing you could do. So lets try and Take that risk, try out that new idea or experience, there is no harm in giving it a try.

Be Kind - Practice acts of kindness, you just may find joy or happiness in helping or being charitable to people. Let your guard down, compliment people and talk to strangers as its a lot harder to have a negative mindset while in the presence of love and kindness.

Goal Setting - Goals maybe a useful guide that would help keep you on the path of positivity. Write down the dreams or interest you have, focus and consider dedicating yourself to pursuing your goals. As you do this, you would likely have less time to be negative.

Exercise - this is said to be one of the easier and fast ways to change your mood or thoughts as it eases endorphins in the brain that help to change up your mood. Getting into the exercise habit might seem difficult but keep in mind that the benefits of exercising far outweigh the initial laziness you may feel. It also helps keep the body in shape.

Smile! - This is the last but definitely not the least point. I would say this is my personal favourite technique. When I am having a bad day or feeling negative about situations, I just smile. The smile helps me remember and shifts my thoughts to things that make me smile. It also gives me an opportunity to remember when I was optimistic, when things were working and when I felt happy. Those feelings would then transfer to my present day and make me feel good about the situation. A smile helps me remember positive thoughts, thereby generating good feelings within me and then allowing me to see and feel the positivity in whatever situation or challenges I have or face currently. So lets try it, whenever you are not feeling good, Just put on a genuine Smile and watch your thoughts shift to a positive zone.
